Robots, dogs, monsters, etc…
Monday, March 3rd, 2008I’m a big fan of explodingdog. I have been for about six years, on and off. “Sam’s” style is pretty dynamic, although grounded by a few common themes. He’ll go through some style phases that cause me to lose interest, but typically comes back with some amazing stuff. Personally, I prefer his darker and more abstract work.
He’s posted some pretty amazing stuff over the past two or three weeks. Just a couple examples:
02.22.08 – they’ll never really know
02.25.08 – none of this makes sense

Now go subscribe to his RSS feed! Do it!!
Greenishyyyy!!!
Thursday, February 28th, 2008Well, my goal was to stay late at work tonight to get work done. I ended up staying late at work and redesigning my entire website instead. It was worth it. Less shininess, more sleekness. And more greenness.
Oh, clear your cache and refresh to see the sexy new favicon.
Yup.
Date selection calendars, what not to do…
Sunday, February 24th, 2008Do us all a favor. If you place date selector calendars on your site, make them appear as a dynamic page element, not in a separate window. Separate window date selector calendars usually load slower, mess up my window focus, and occasionally open up in new tabs. That’s really annoying. I don’t want to be switching back and forth from windows or tabs just to pick a date.
More importantly, if there are two calendars to select a date range, populate the month of the second calendar based on the month input of the first one. That’s really simple and useful. Unless airlines start offering time travel services, I don’t think I need to be selecting to travel back in time.
Who Gets it Right
JetBlue – Calendar is on the page as a fast dynamic element. Month of July in the calendar is populated based on my previous selection. Hiyooo!!
Who Gets it Wrong
American Airlines (no surprise) – Calendar opens in a new browser window, booo!! I selected a July date for my first selection, but AA is still showing me February when I clicked on the second calendar icon, ugh!! How long have they been installing 757s with flux capacitors?
